Wind Turbine Grants
Currently, there are no Government grants available to help provide financial assistance towards the purchase and installation of wind turbine technology.
However, for anyone installing an eligible wind turbine, there is financial support available via the Government’s feed-in tariffs (FiTs) scheme.
Introduced in February 2010, the FiTs scheme has been designed to encourage people to take advantage of electricity generating renewable energy technologies, including wind turbines.
Whether the wind turbine installed is building mounted or free standing (mast mounted), installations of up to 5 mega watts are eligible to receive cash for each unit of electricity generated.
You’ll receive an annual payment for all of the electricity you generate. How much you will receive will depend on certain factors; most notably wind speed, as this dictates how much electricity your wind turbine system is capable of generating.
To qualify for the feed-in tariffs, both the system installed and the installer must be certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
